Self-Reliance Ministry

Why Agriculture Matters to Our Ministry

Agricultural projects provides a biblical, sustainable, and dignified way to support church ministry while directly helping vulnerable families in our society.

1. Agriculture Creates Long-Term Sustainability
Agriculture is not a one-time handout. Once established, projects such as dairy farming and poultry keeping generate income consistently, enabling the church to continuously support evangelism, pay school fees for vulnerable children, fund discipleship and youth camps, and strengthen Sunday school, women’s, and men’s fellowships. This greatly reduces long-term dependence on external donations.

2. Agriculture Uses Local Skills and Resources
Most people in rural Kenya already have basic farming knowledge. These projects create local employment opportunities for youth and church members, utilize available land and labor, and keep resources circulating within the community. As a result, they are cost-effective, practical, and culturally appropriate.

3. Agriculture Produces Reliable Income
Poultry projects generate income daily through egg sales, while dairy farming provides steady income from milk production. Since food demand is constant and basic, these projects ensure stable cash flow to support ongoing ministry work.
